MENDOZA-RIACHUELO CAUSE
In 2008, the Supreme Court of Argentina ruled that the basin environment be restored. It has been 10 years since then, little progress has been made, and the people affected by this process have been clearly overlooked. In the face of no social participation, in the context of the “CoAct” Global Project (Horizon 2020), we developed a digital platform for citizen science (Qué pasa Riachuelo), which the community living in close proximity to the basin can use to gather information to engage in dialogue with relevant officials and authorities. Through collaborate mapping, the platform helps users organise, systematise and share the perspectives and knowledge gained over time by social and scientific organisations and other stakeholders taking action towards environmental justice for the basin.
