Fundación IWO

IWO Foundation preserves the largest documentary collection on the history of immigration and the languages of the Jewish people constructing spaces for creativity, the study, intergenerational communication and the encounter between cultures.

MISSION:

IWO Foundation is a non-profit organization that researches, documents and disseminates the migratory culture and the languages ​​of the Jewish people in a framework of pluralism and respect for differences, encouraging all cultural and identity manifestations in the region. It is dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, creating areas for study, contact between generations and the meeting between cultures.


PROGRAMS:

-Program of cultural heritage:

Objective: We provide access to millions of historical documents and encourage research to improve understanding of the contemporary Jewish experience, understand regional migration processes, promote contact between cultures and strengthen respect for diversity in our country.

Description: We maintain a specialized library. We provide free reference services. We assist families in the conservation and patrimonialization of family documents. We digitized documents, photos and historical recordings about Jewish immigration, colonies and urban culture, Yiddish theater, Holocaust survivors, anti-Semitism and Jewish education. We preserve the materials rescued from the AMIA attack.

Target population: The library and the archive are open to the community. We are consulted by teachers from schools, universities, students, researchers, people interested in preserving their files, etc.

Location: The library is located in CABA. We provide reference via email and provide digital copies.


-Try to remember:

Objective: Create awareness and provide information on little-known aspects of the AMIA attack in a participatory space that favors multicultural debate and solidarity.

Description: We designed the documentary "The young people who rescued the memory" in which the story of the 800 young volunteers who rescued the books and collections of the IWO Foundation after the attack is recounted. We open the debate with appropriate slogans for each age group. We highlight the value of volunteering and archives as sources of law and identity.

Target population: Schools from 12 years old, clubs, universities, student, political and community organizations throughout the country, family groups, student and grandparent activities, etc.

Location: We offer on-site courses and workshops and carry out training throughout the country.


-Training and Public Programs:

Objective: To promote contact between cultures and inter-generational communication through knowledge and creativity.

Description: We offer a program of activities such as courses of Yiddish and Jewish culture, traditional cuisine, documentary films, music laboratories, conservation workshops of cultural heritage, local history, Jewish genealogy, meetings and conferences, among others. We generate documentaries and record skills of the elderly. We grant scholarships for study and we solve expenses of duplication of materials to favor the investigation in Jewish subjects.

Target population: We provide training to schools, clubs, universities, student, political and community organizations.

Location: We offer on-site courses and workshops and carry out training throughout the country.
